The Queen Anne’s County (MD) Free Library seeks an innovative and
proactive leader to provide a strategic vision that will inspire staff and
move the library to the next level with emerging services, programs and
technologies. The successful candidate will have exceptionally strong
communication skills as a key focus of the position is to develop successful
and mutually beneficial partnerships in the community. This leader will
also create a strong fundraising and development program. The Director
will serve as the Library’s key advocate and will lead staff in marketing the
Library’s outstanding programs and services provided in an environment
of stable funding.
In addition to an MLS from an ALA-accredited library education program,
the candidate must have at least 7 years of professional public library experience
with at least 3 years library administration and supervisory experience
and demonstrated management ability in budgeting, planning, fundraising,
advocacy and relationship building. The position requires a strong
philosophy of customer service, excellent interpersonal communications
skills, the ability to attract and maintain a talented staff, and the capability
to promote a collaborative and open atmosphere. The Board is looking for
someone with a high level of enthusiasm and vision; a relationship-builder
who can connect with staff, hear all voices and bring in non-library users.
