On May 1, 2013, National University of Health Science's Learning Resource Center (LRC)received a $5,000 grant from the Illinois State Library's "Back to Books" grant program. The grant is designated specifically for book purchases and collection development.
Reference librarian Russ Iwami and circulation assistant Ian Richter wrote the grant proposal for National University, proposing collection development on the topic of "Expanding the role of spiritual therapies as a healthcare option."

The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) Innovative Reading Grant supports the planning and implementation of a unique and innovative program for children which motivates and encourages reading, especially with struggling readers. The Funds4Books Disaster Relief Program helps to replace school and library collections that have been damaged or destroyed, such as by a tornado or hurricane. Staff at schools and libraries can find more information at: http://www.mackin.com/FUNDS4BOOKS/DISASTER-RELIEF.aspx.
Over 5,000 picture books, chapter books, nonfiction, biography, reference and even audiobooks on CD and Playaway are available for $1 each. All are recent copyright, in great condition and are shelf ready with spine labels that are crisp and clear - only our barcode has been neatly crossed through. We need floorspace to create an interactive early literacy area and expanded digital services for students, so we are reducing duplicate copies in our collection.
The sale will be Friday, December 13 from 3-7 pm and Saturday, December 14 from 10 am-2pm. This sale is only for librarians and educators and requires a tax exempt letter for admittance. Cash or check - receipts provided. Items will be organized by classification or Dewey.
