The Community Library is currently accepting applications for the position of Youth Librarian.
The Community Library is looking for an energetic, creative, and detail oriented person with a strong dedication to patron services to become part of our team. Work involves providing reference and reader's advisory guidance to children/teens and their caregivers at a public service desk; presenting story times; preparing, implementing and evaluating age/interest appropriate recreational and informational programming for children birth to 18, their families, and organizations serving children; and promoting the summer reading program to local schools.
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week including some evening and weekend hours. Flexibility in scheduling is required. The Community Library is comprised of two buildings serving four western Kenosha County municipalities. This position will require travel to both branches as well as various area organizations.
The ideal candidate will possess an American Library Association accredited Master's degree in Library and Information Science, experience working with children, teens, and parents. Any equivalent combination of experience and training will be considered. The candidate must be technology-savvy and comfortable with both current technologies and learning new ones. Ability to conduct virtual programming including live and recorded presentations is required.
