The Algonquin Area Public Library District seeks a friendly, engaging, and tech savvy problem solver to join our growing team of computer, technology, and maker oriented staff. The person in this position will staff the Tech Help Desk and Computer Lab; assist with computers, copiers, printers, and software; assist in preparing technology and devices for onsite and offsite programs and meetings as directed; and provide additional technology support as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess a desire to serve and interact with the staff and community; troubleshoot and problem solve computer and technology issues for the public and staff; understand the changing roles of libraries in their communities; demonstrate sound judgment when managing difficult situations; and work with other staff members to promote the Library.
Responsibilities of this position include: providing basic instruction to patrons and staff on library computers, equipment, and software; maintaining computer and technology related equipment and tracking supplies as assigned; preparing promotional material for the library's newsletter, website, and social media as assigned.

Associates or bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education;
Demonstrated interest in tinkering, crafting, and the maker movement;
Minimum of one year of experience working with the public in a teaching or support capacity;
Library experience preferred
