The Librarian's Guide to Homelessness author Ryan Dowd Presents…

How to Prevent Burnout

Ryan Dowd started volunteering at a homeless shelter at 13. By 21, he was working there.

Now, two decades later, he's an expert and author of The Librarian's Guide to Homelessness.

Dowd uses his long career as Executive Director of Hesed House, a large

homeless shelter outside of Chicago, to inform his work as he trains organizations around the world on how to compassionately manage problematic behavior from troubled individuals.

In this program, he will help public library staff with two key issues: How to stop and prevent

burnout and how to get people to wear masks and social distance.
