Edit October 19: Academic, School, and Specialized Libraries Needed

We have received very little feedback so far from academic, school, and specialized libraries, and hope that staff from these libraries will be able to participate in the second round along with their public library colleagues. We are offering town halls at different times to accommodate a variety of schedules. It is very important that our new strategic plan addresses the needs of all types and sizes of RAILS libraries.

Participate in a Town Hall

RAILS will rely heavily on member input as we develop our new strategic plan, and member contributions will greatly influence our final product. To hear from as many members as possible from all types and sizes of libraries, we will hold two rounds of virtual town halls via Zoom in October and November, with four different times available to participate in each round. Each town hall will be two hours long and will include plenty of time to engage with your library colleagues to help shape the future direction of RAILS.

All staff from all types of libraries are encouraged to attend a town hall. Each session is limited to 100 attendees to ensure we capture the conversation. Review the dates/times below and use the links to register for the town hall of your choice. Please choose only one session from each round to attend. (Ideally, members will choose a date in each round. But not participating in the first round doesn't mean you can't participate in the second.)

The first round of virtual town halls will focus on building a common understanding of the strategic plan structure and process, as well as obtaining feedback and suggestions for potential strategies and goals. The second round will serve as a check-in, to ensure we've heard our members correctly, and to give members a chance to share their expectations, which will further shape our goals.

At least one session of each round will be recorded. We will also use a variety of virtual tools to collect input, such as Google Forms, Jamboard, and Padlet. Members can participate using an open browser window or using the text function on their phone. We will leave these tools open for a set period of time to collect input from those not able to attend the town hall sessions. Stay tuned for further details.
